#Q1046 - Changing the Default Folder in WorkingArtist on Windows 98/ME/Windows 2000/XP. Artwork images are not stored in the WorkingArtist program. WorkingArtist only stores the "path" to an artwork image. The path is a description of the folder/file location on the hard drive. For example, if you store the image in a folder called "Slides" on your C Drive, the path will be "C:/Slides." When you page to an artwork record, WorkingArtist links to the image file using the path location of the file. If the location of the folder changes, the path will also change and the images will not display in WorkingArtist. This might happen if moving to a new computer where path names are configured differently from the old computer. For example, I have an image stored in a folder "paintings" located in my documents\my pictures. Notice that even though the image is stored in the same folder located in my documents\my pictures, the image path can vary on different computers: 1. Test Computer running Windows 2000: c:\documents and settings\ADMINISTRATOR\my documents\my pictures\paintings\image.jpg 2. Test Computer running Windows XP (Home): c:\documents and settings\COLIN\my documents\my pictures\paintings\image.jpg To resolve this problem, the user can either ensure that their image folder is in the same location as on the old computer, or they can create a new default folder for images. This will tell WorkingArtist in which location to find the folder with the image files. These instructions are written for WorkingArtist 3.07.02a or later. If you have an earlier version, you may need to update. 1. From the Main Switch Board, click on the Artwork icon to display the View Artwork screen. 2. Click on Change Default (lower right hand corner of the screen) to display the Change Slide Path screen. Here we will select the default folder with your images. 3. Click on the Browse button to display the Browse for Folder screen. 4. Locate and select the appropriate folder and click OK to accept. 5. Enter the new file extension. 6. Click Save and then Close. 7. In View Artwork, click on Change Folder for All Images. This will change the slide path for all artworks with image files located in the selected folder. 8. After you have completed the above steps, check to make certain that all images are displaying correctly. Back to the top | ||
